@jon-nyc said in Getaway Car: I’m three for three in outrunning/ditching cops in (vehicle) pursuit. I’m 1 for 1. When I was in my early 20s, I was driving home after work (movie theater) around midnight. It was kind of a neighborhood area and I turned right on a red light. Suddenly I saw a cop turn on their lights about two blocks to my left and circle around towards me. By this time I was driving up the hill (on the road I just turned onto). Once I got over the crest of the hill, there was a side street. Not sure why I did it but I immediately turned onto that street, parked, and killed the lights. About 5 seconds later the cop went flying past me, didn’t see me.

@Jolly said in Hey, Aqua!: @LuFins-Dad said in Hey, Aqua!: I’m sorry to hear that you have had a Tourette’s recurrence, but it’s not terribly surprising considering all the stress related to the workplace, COVID, and dealing with White Privelege. Fortunately, patients with Tourette’s are covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Still, it’s odd that your attacks seem to happen on work- based Zoom conferences. That is slicker than snot on a chrome doorknob. You guys are awesome influences. Man I wish I could talk about some things publicly. If you think I'm not being myself throughout all this you're out of your mind.

@Kincaid said in Louisville is about to burn : @Loki The boyfriend admits he fired (maybe even first) but says it was a warning shot into the floor. Well, since the officers were carrying .40 cals and the cop who was shot had a 9mms bullet hole, the boyfriend's statement might be a little short of the Truth. And another thing...Since she was shot six times, collapsing in the hallway, wonder if boyfriend was using her as a shield?

I suggest the DOJ follow Obama's example and doggedly investigate and prosecute the leakers. I am quite sure there is a reporting at the NYT dying to go to jail for contempt when they try to protect their sources.

I think it would be fun to work in an area like that. Do whatever you want - dont worry about past designs, customer wants, etc.

@LuFins-Dad said in Hey Jolly: @Jolly said in Hey Jolly: Stick a fork in Brees. This is definitely his last year. He needs Thomas. Badly. What I don’t get is that he completely missed Sanders. Sanders has been consistently one of the best possession receivers over the past 6 years and was sitting wide open last night but Brees wouldn’t send him the rock, You have to understand how Breed throws. Everything is timing. He throws to spots, not people. The timing is not there.

@Axtremus said in What if they tie?: @Larry said in What if they tie?: Trump did not tell anyone to do anything illegal. Sure he did, on video, all over national TV. Trump may be too ignorant himself to know that what he told voters to do is illegal, but he sure told voters to vote illegally. Son, occasionally you need an ass-whipping. If you lived down here, people would stand in line to give you one.

No way to enforce intrafamily. As for the elderly...My opinion has always been that just because you are of legal age and breathing, does not mean you should vote.

@Axtremus said in Cutting the cord... Advice?: @Klaus said in Cutting the cord... Advice?: We have 100mbps. Multiple people streaming is no problem. If there is a bottleneck, it’s usually the upload speed, in our case about 7mbps. You get Internet access for your house thorough a coaxial cable, right? Low upload speed is a typical limitation with coaxial systems. Most fiber optic systems (FiOS is one) usually have symmetrical upload and download speeds. Yes, it's a coaxial cable. The other alternative here is DSL, which uses the telephone line. DSL has a similar asymmetry, though. Out of curiosity I checked what the maximum speed is I can get right now. Turns out it is 1 GBit, with 50 MBit upload. [image: 1601297701259-492363b8-701b-4279-9bed-cff0982a5f93-image.png]

@Jolly said in RCT of Vitamin D as Covid treatment: Which brings up another question...How much better are we at treating COVID now, as opposed to last March? Good point - and Bach commented that we're better at it. The understanding that COVID-19 is, among other things, a vascular, not respiratory disease changed a lot (use of anticoagulants). Reducing the dependency on mechanical ventilation has helped as well - throwing out the old algorithms of who needs a ventilator and who doesn't. The other things that seem to be clear are the uses of steroids as anti-inflammatory and antibiotics to treat superinfection. I'm not sure I understand the physiology of the benefits of zinc and vitamins, however.
